What people often ask.
About the services, costs, the private path and the process. If your question isn't here, do get in touch directly.
Who are the services for?
In principle, for anyone seeking professional support. As I work privately — not through basic insurance — it makes sense either to have the necessary means yourself or a usable supplementary insurance that reimburses a good part of the services. Ideally, clarify this with your insurer in advance.
Why no basic insurance (OKP)?
Since July 2022, specialist psychologists for psychotherapy have been part of basic insurance too — though not as equal partners of the medical profession. At its introduction, one of the negotiating partners pulled out at the last moment, so the cantons had to create a provisional emergency tariff (the Canton of Zurich first, the others following).
This tariff is set far too low and does not reflect the qualification and work of the specialists. Added to this is years of financial uncertainty — up to the risk of having to repay, retroactively over years, any difference from the later definitive tariff.
For these reasons I decided in 2025 to step out of this model and to work exclusively privately — as I would also advise someone in a similar position. For clients, the private path means at the same time free choice of therapist, discretion and depth without a timed grid.
How does reimbursement via supplementary insurance work?
As a federally recognised Specialist Psychologist for Psychotherapy with cantonal licences (ZH, BS, BL, GR, LU), reimbursement via a supplementary health insurance is often possible. Military and accident insurance, as well as psychotherapy paid by the IV (disability insurance) for children and adolescents in training, also come into consideration.
Please note: some supplementary insurances require a medical prescription at the outset — this is not the same as the "assignment for basic insurance". Details on the Fees page; I'm glad to help with questions.
How do the conversations work?
My core format is the Walking Talks in the countryside close to the city — walking, side by side rather than opposite. In motion, speaking and thinking are often more open. Also possible: video, phone and, by arrangement, home visits. Early morning, during the day, over midday or in the evening. More under Walking Talks.
Is it also possible by video, phone — and internationally?
Yes. For many years I have offered flexible phone and video sessions — Switzerland-wide and internationally by arrangement, across time zones too. Psychotherapy, counselling, coaching and crisis intervention by phone are possible at any time by individual arrangement.
What about discretion and confidentiality?
The utmost confidentiality and discretion are a matter of course — with many years' experience precisely under very discreet conditions. A second e-mail address is available for the secure exchange of documents; on request, Threema is also possible (the ID is exchanged personally).
What in an acute emergency?
In case of immediate danger, the emergency numbers first: 144 (ambulance), 117 (police), 143 (the Helping Hand). The police connect you around the clock with the emergency psychiatrist on duty. For rapid emergency-psychological support alongside and afterwards: see Emergency Psychology.
