Sports psychotherapy

Sports psychotherapy includes two directions:

Of course, professional athletes, like all other people, also suffer from mental disorders – just as they can get into mental crises and psychological distress.

According to a study conducted by FIFPRO in 2015, as many as 20–38% of footballers suffer from either anxiety disorders or depression. FIFPRO concludes that footballers are particularly vulnerable. But of course, this applies not only to footballers, but to all athletes in high-performance sectors.

As an experienced psychotherapist as well as a sports psychotherapist and sports psychologist in current training, I have a very good grasp of both the world of professional sport and the psychological world and can point out sensible ways and pragmatic and efficient exercises.

Due to the very high focus on performance, psychotherapy for professional athletes is not exactly the same as for many other professional groups. Feel free to contact me so that I can tackle the challenges in a way that is tailored to you and your circumstances.

Sports psychotherapy in this general sense is open to anyone who is struggling with psychological difficulties, disorders and illnesses and is looking for or missing a connection to sport.

Sport or sporting activity can play a significant role in mental and physical recovery and in maintaining health as far as possible. We can also focus on this.
